The Tallbo is a beautifully made Swedish log cabin ideal for use as a garden office, play room, guest accommodation, or simply somewhere to chill out. It is made from 58mm pine logs from sustainable forests grown close to the Arctic Circle. Arctic pine is slow growing so it is close grained and denser than logs grown further South.
The Tallbo is designed to be warm in winter and cool in summer. It is glass double glazed throughout. The 58mm logs it is made from are considerably thicker than competing products in the same price range, and provide excellent heat insulation, but in addition Tallbo cabins may be fitted with an optional insulation pack which increases the wall thickness with 120mm of insulation, and 22mm of interior pine log profiled wall cladding.
When fitted with the insulation pack a Tallbo log cabin is suitable for living in through the depths of a Swedish winter where the temperatures are often lower than -40deg Celsius.
Even without the insulation pack the Tallbo will be warmer than competing cabins thanks to its blind floor which provides a cavity beneath the floor to accept 120mm of insulation, and its suspended pine ceiling which provides a space for insulation in the roof.
Tallbo cabins do not need to sit on a concrete slab foundation. Instead the cabin sits on concrete posts embedded in the earth. The floor joists are strong enough to support the floor without the support of a concrete slab. The benefit for the user are two fold. First, post foundations are considerably cheaper to construct than a slab. Secondly, the secret to maintaining wood in a healthy condition is good ventilation. With our system air is allowed to freely circulate right under the cabin which will discourage rot and fungus.
Tallbo 15 is one of our most popular log cabins. It fits into relatively small plots and exudes quality while being very good value for money. Most people will not require local authority planning permission or building control for a log cabin of this size. Refer to our page on planning permission to see if you might be among the minority who do require it.
Please enquire if you would like a variation in the product design.
Not all woods available in Ireland are cut from sustainable, aged forests. Bespoken recommends its clients buy traceable products.
